Capacity Strengthening

Knowledge Building on Health and Family Welfare in Northeast Region

The project aims at strengthening the capacity of researchers, academicians, and institutions in Northeast India to effectively interpret data and contribute to evidence-driven program and policy design. PopulationCouncil Consulting has partnered with five leading academic institutions in the region to enhance skills in secondary data analysis, with a focus on understanding dataset strengths and limitations, applying appropriate analytical methods, and accurately interpreting findings.

The initiative promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging researchers to draw on diverse perspectives to deepen their analysis. By equipping participants with the skills to creatively combine and analyse data, the project enables them to uncover meaningful patterns, relationships, and trends. The overall goal of this capacity-building effort was to enhance the use of existing data resources to generate impactful insights and address complex social challenges. As an outcome, a set of analytical reports have been submitted to the State NHMs across all eight Northeastern states, contributing to regional health planning and policy formulation.
