Program Evaluation of Piramal Sarvajal

Home Program Evaluation of Piramal Sarvajal

The PopulationCouncil Consulting conducted an evaluation study to assess the success of the Piramal Sarvajal (PS) business model. The project aimed to improve access to clean drinking water for underserved communities and was implemented by Piramal Sarvajal in Madhya Pradesh, India with funding support from Water.org.  Innovative and sustainable market-based solutions were designed by leveraging loan financing through a franchisee business model. While Water.org supported PS in creating water entrepreneurs through loan financing from financial institutions, PS replicated its franchisee business model and created a service support system that provided access to affordable and safe drinking water to underserved communities. The evaluation included a mixed-method approach supplemented with a desk review of program documents.
