Home Programmatic Analysis of DREAMS Implementation Science Initiative

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Girl Effect, Johnson & Johnson, Gilead Sciences, and ViiV Healthcare are together supporting the Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) initiative in 10 sub-Saharan countries. DREAMS is delivering, through the public and private sector, a comprehensive package of evidence-based strategies that go beyond the health sector, addressing the structural drivers that fuel adolescent girls and young women’s (AGYW) HIV risk, including poverty, gender inequality, sexual violence, social isolation, and limited schooling. Achieving these ambitious DREAMS initiative targets will require new approaches that address the political, social and cultural practices that increase girls’ HIV risk. At each DREAMS program site, implementing partners (IP) identify and enroll into AGYW to participate in the program. In each country context, a primary package of interventions was defined with the expectation that all DREAMS participants would receive this primary package and additional interventions depending on individual need or vulnerability. The PopulationCouncil Consulting is supporting the DREAMS team to undertake programmatic analyses of evaluation data using advanced statistical and data science approaches.
